Okay, so you have conceded that service and car repair is a necessary task - but what exactly needs to be done?!

At Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT we have grouped the majority of the standard, scheduled service and maintenance practices into three groups:  Service A, Service B, and Service C.  You will also notice later that there is a Service D, however this is for big mileage milestones like 55,000 miles and 105,000 miles and essentially ads some precautionary measures to make sure your new Toyota vehicle or used car's odometer can roll over the next 50,000 miles!

Air filter and cabin air filter are replaced if necessary
PCV valves replaced
Windshield wipers are checked
Fittings are all lubricated
Additional Information:
Once again Service C is more maintenance with some optional features that we would ask a customer about before performing.  During Service interval C, your Toyota air filter and/or Toyota cabin air filter could need replacing; we say "could" because, for example, those who live on a dirt road would be more likely to need the replacing than a person who doesn't.  If you did need the new filters, additional charges would ensue at the customer's acceptance thereof.  Though it's likely by time you hit your first Service C interval you'll need a new air filter, you could have already had it changed.  If you haven't or want to know more about these necessary Toyota parts, check out our genuine Toyota car parts page or contact Parts Manager Ray Quilliam by email or toll-free at 888-447-8961.

More about Handy Toyota's
Toyota repair, service, and maintenance menu

While we have many, many customers from northern Vermont and greater Burlington, VT or even upstate New York and Plattsburgh, NY areas, there is still a chunk of the population that uses the Independent and Mom & Pop variety of service station.  However, there is a reason why these places seem to be able to cut costs:  they do not have Toyota-trained technicians and genuine Toyota parts with which to work.

That's where Handy Toyota's service department and factory-trained service advisors and technicians come into play.  We have all the certification needed to ensure that no matter what the reason for your visit - from an oil change to full blown car repairs or Toyota tune-ups - we have the skill and more importantly accurate training needed to fix your specific Toyota vehicle's problem.  Why save five bucks on an oil change if you have to return, kill another two hours of your day and suffer another $20 charge to get the leak fixed?  That just doesn't make sense.  Not only does it not make sense, but as indicated on our awards and honors page we are a Toyota Signature dealer; to keep Signature status, customer needs have to come first.

It's due to those needs and various questions that we put together this Toyota service menu for your perusal.  Above, you will find all the information you need for a 5,000 to 150,000 mile intervals and the recommended service initiatives deemed pertinent by Toyota Motors.  We urge you to remember that pricing is not absolute:  prices can change, and realistically every vehicle is necessary.  Don't be worried though, as this can work in your favor:  why pay for a tire rotation if you absolutely don't need one, right?

If you have any questions regarding parts and service, contact our Parts and Service Director Joe Luneau by calling toll-free 888-594-1392 or simply send Joe an email.  You can also request technical support by emailing the webmaster directly, or by trying our Live Chat program during normal business hours.

And finally, on behalf of everyone in the Handy Toyota service department, we thank you for giving us the chance to earn your business!

*Prices of service menu options A, B, and C are all inclusive of tax and labor rates.

**General service options do not include tax.  General service does not include diesel vehicles in any category except where stated and priced explicitly.  All prices are subject to change without notice.

Though it doesn't happen often, due to the nature of Internet transmissions and revisions typographical errors can occur.  In these instances Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT is not responsible for the misinformation.  Please verify pricing with a Handy Toyota service advisor.  If you notice an obvious mistake or discrepancy, please do not hesitate to email the webmaster.

New and Used Toyota in VT
Service and Maintenance FAQs

Warranty companies, in some cases, can deny your seemingly legitimate warranty claims for failure to maintain your new Toyota vehicle or late model, low mileage used car for failure to correctly maintain said vehicle as per your owner's manual!  Further, proper certified Toyota service and auto repair maintenance at regular and recommended intervals can prevent costly repairs down the road.

Below, please find some key items regarding auto repair, service, and maintenance that you should always keep in mind.  For more details, check out our service menu, use our online form to schedule a service appointment, or simply send an email to the service advisor team.

Oil and Filter Service
Changing your oil and filter at the interval prescribed in your owner's manual - and it's imperative that you check your owner's manual because with today's synthetic oils, intervals can go up to 10,000 miles! - extends the life of your engine and your car's overall health.

Air Filter Service
Your Toyota car, truck, or SUV's air filter, just like an oil filter, gets dirty simply from being used.  In Vermont we tend to have clean air, but even without all the smog of some places (which can make your air filter's life shorten) you will still build up a lot of debris like pollen, dirt from unpaved roads, salt and sand on a constantly plowed winter road in Vermont, and more.  As the air filter gets clogged with dirt, bugs, and other debris, the lack of air literally chokes the engine an creates a "rich" content of gasoline; in other words there is too much gas being burned, not enough air gets through, and the required balance thereof is all out of whack.  This will not only burn extra already expensive gasoline, but the engine can and will lose power as things worsen.

If that didn't help you see the need for a clean air filter maybe this will:  changing a clogged filter can improve gas mileage by up to 15%!  That's 1.5 extra miles for every 10 mpg, or 15 cents per gallon less you'll pay per 10 mpg!  With a car like the Prius, that's over 50 cents per gallon you will either waste or save... per gallon!

Tire Rotation
Tires wear differently depending on how you drive, but it also depends on where they're placed on a car.  For instance if your front-right strut was busted, that same tire could be bearing more weight and wear more quickly than the rest.  Proper tire rotation maintenance at Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT can keep you safer once again while preserving an investment like a new set of all-season tires or winter tires... as long as you rotate them according to the owner's manual of your specific Toyota vehicle or used car.  As such, your best bet is to get your tires rotated by an authorized Toyota service technician.
