What is the College Graduate Rebate?
How do I get $1,000 off MSRP towards my new Toyota at Handy Toyota?
The College Graduate Rebate program is a way for Handy Toyota, Toyota Motors USA, and Toyota Financial Services (TFS) to congratulate you on all the hard work that ended when you walked across the auditorium or stage to accept your college or university degree! From now until January 3, 2012, you can take advantage of a the College Graduate Rebate of up to $1,000 off the MSRP of select new Toyota vehicles. Qualified applicants can also be treated to no money down and no monthly payments for 90 days!1
But again, none of this comes close to the biggest perk of buying a Toyota in VT: the peace of mind of driving a new Toyota vehicle through the Vermont roads, which means safety first thanks to Toyota's STAR Safety System. Additionally all new Toyota purchases come with a two year complimentary maintenance plan called Toyota Care, turning an unbelievable deal into the steal of a lifetime.
How to qualify for Toyota's College Graduate Rebate
When buying a new Toyota vehicle in Vermont at Handy Toyota
The rules of engagement are simple, and most of them have are likely fulfilled if you are a college graduate reading this page! You need a degree, a job, and insurance. Here are the details.
1. Earn your college or university degree from one of the following institution types:
- An accredited four-year college, university, or registered nursing degree program during the last two years or graduate from such a school or program within the next six months
- Have already graduated from an accredited two-year college during the last two years
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program or have received a degree from an accredited graduate program during the last two years
- Have already graduated during the last two years from the two-year Toyota Technical Education Network (T-TEN) Program or any other two-year post secondary automotive program accredited by the NATEF
- Have already completed an electrician apprenticeship or certification program during the past two years through the NJATC and/or the IBEW
2. Find a job... preferably for your sake (and the sake of your college loans a good one!) that fits the following TFS guidelines:
- Show Handy Toyota of St. Albans, Vermont your proof of current employment or future employment with a guaranteed start date within 120 days or your purchase contract date on your new Toyota vehicle
- Toyota Financial Services (TFS) must also deem your income sufficient to cover living expenses and monthly payments
3. Get insurance for your new Toyota vehicle
Remember: car loans in Vermont require full collision coverage, so keep this in mind. Assuming you have full coverage or are ready to get collision insurance, be sure to bring in the proof when you apply for the College Graduate Rebate program through Handy Toyota.
Okay, I meet these 3 requirements... what vehicles can I choose?
If the few requirements outlined above are fulfilled, you are well on your way to getting the new Toyota of your dreams... within reason, or should we say there are some limitations. Shown below, here are the vehicles that Toyota has deemed buyable in conjunction with the TFS College Graduate Rebate program. Note that each vehicle model is linked to our inventory listing page, giving you a full set of each new Toyota model's options, trim levels, configurations, specifications, transmissions, pricing, and much more.
Toyota Camry (gas only)
There is a reason why the Toyota Camry, redesigned in 2012, was the 2011 calender year's best selling car in America. With a new sporty facade, all new sheet metal, a 2.5L 4-cylinder and V6 variant, trim levels like the new Camry L, the luxurious Camry LE, the sporty Camry SE, and the elegant Camry XLE, there is a Camry made for everyone. Better yet, the old stereotype of the Camry being the "Japanese-made flagship" is no longer valid; while it's still a Japanese design (of course), the Camry is consistently ranked the Most American Car based on composition, American-made parts quantity, final assembly point, and sheer volume. In these terms, it literally gets no more American-made than a Toyota Camry sedan.

Toyota Corolla
Just like the Camry, the Toyota Corolla had a banner year years decade. Already, there are more Corolla sedans on the road of varying model years (from the mid-1980s with over 300,000 miles in many cases), but 2011's model year saw the Toyota Corolla hit a whole new level as it claimed the title of the most sold car in the world! When you consider the safety record and high Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash test scores, the standard equipment, and gas-sipping 1.8L engine it is little surprise; what is a surprise is that the 2011 tsunami in Japan wiped out Corolla production... and it still ended on top!
Search our blog for Corolla articles to learn more about this world class, unbeatable, low priced sedan.
Toyota Prius c
A late addition to the College Graduate Rebate program is none other than the all new Toyota Prius c, the compact version of the world class, best-selling Prius hybrid meant for the city - as in "c for city." Giving drivers up to a $1,000 rebate when the College Graduate Rebate is applied, up to 54 mpg in the city, and, despite its appearance, best in class room and cargo areas, the Prius c is set to be the next big thing for post-college kids.

Toyota Matrix
Though originally an offshoot of the Toyota Corolla (and at times still called the Toyota Corolla Matrix), the Toyota Matrix is really the best of the previous two worlds. Featuring a peppy 2.4L engine, standard or automatic transmission, and standard rear 60/40 split folding seats coupled with an enormous cargo area in the hatchback rear, the Matrix is sporty, sleek, and able to haul a ton. Perhaps best of all, the Toyota Matrix is one of the few Toyota sedans/hatchbacks (in other words smaller cars) that comes with an all-wheel drive option, giving you extra grip on the icy winter roads and more grab on the summer trails.
Shop for your Matrix online today and configure yours - I'd suggest an all-wheel drive 2.4-liter 5-speed standard, but that's just me - today!.
Toyota Rav4
Ah, the RAV4, originally named as an acronym meaning "Recreational Activity Vehicle," and R-A-V it surely is! As one of our all time best sellers and a vehicle we can hardly keep on the lot year round, the four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive Toyota RAV4 is great in Vermont. Using its SUV heritage you can easily get around in the winter time or bomb through the trails (also thanks to its perfectly honed center of gravity), and the Sport and Limited trims add JBL audio systems, navigation, steel-tipped exhaust systems, full size spare wheels, and more (in varying trim amounts). The RAV4, for those lucky enough to get one, is a do-anything, go-anywhere vehicle from the Toyota gods themselves.

Toyota Tacoma
Regardless of whether you plan on making a living as a construction team member or the professor at the most prestigious of colleges, the Tacoma can be customized to fit your live. From the 4-cylinder, gas-sipping manual transmission models to the 4.0L V6 automatics with tap-shifting, straight through to the Regular, Access, or Double Cab configurations, there is literally no end to the 2013 Tacoma's customization it seems.
Better yet, since 2011 Toyota has given Tacoma, small truck, and Toyota fans something to really grab: the all new Tacoma lineup features the Tacoma X-Runner, Tacoma Pre-Runner, and the best of the best the Tacoma T|X Pro. In fact the "best of the best" is actually altered once more for 2012 and 2013 as Toyota adds the Tacoma T|X Pro Baja Special Edition to the lineup, making for a Tundra-esque amount of fan service to the Tacoma fanatics accross the world.

Toyota Yaris
Last but not least we have the car that every college student will love: ultra efficient, super low emissions, available in a hatchback or sedan, trim levels ranging from L to LE to SE, and added customizations for 2012... of course we're talking about the 2012 Toyota Yaris. The best part about that Yaris is it's loaded with affordable options like the new Toyota Entune infotainment head unit and HDD Radio systems on the SE models and a starting price of the mid $15,000s, anyone with a minimum wage job can afford a Yaris and it's one of the safest rated cars on the road. And let's not forget: you're a big time college graduate making the big bucks and you're looking at another $1,000 College Graduate Rebate, right? Talk about the deal of a lifetime.
