The Most American Cars

American Automobiles
What does that mean to you?

When one reads the subtitle "what does that mean to you," I'm sure images flood into your mind of Mustangs, Ford trucks, Dodge vehicles with a screaming Hemi engine.  Well you might be surprised to find out the results of CNN's recent Top Ten "Most American" Cars study, based on the components of the vehicles, where they were assembled, etc.  As CNN reports: "Just because a car is engineered in Detroit doesn't make it American."

The Winner
The 2011 Toyota Camry

Headlining the Top Ten Most American Cars as number one overall, is none other than 2011 Toyota Camry as shown at Handy Toyota in St. Albans, Vermont.

Though these results exclude the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid, the 2011 Toyota Camry ranked number one for several reasons.  To determine which cars were "really American," analysts from Cars.com examined the area in which the vehicle is manufactured, where the components originate, and how many of those parts are domestically assembled.  Also, sales were considered since the analysts felt that a "Top American" car should boost the American economy.  Pretty sound decision, one would think.

And though the Camry was the number one Most American car, that's not where the story of the Camry ends.  Apparently it was also the number one Most American car last year as well.  So all you Camry lovers like us that get told to buy American:  smile wide, and let the world know that's exactly what you're doing!

The Number 8 Spot
The 2010 Toyota Tundra

There were two other Toyota's on the "Most American" Car List, the Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Sienna.  Ranking at number eight as Most American is no surprise really, given Americas recent love affair with the raw performance and stylish curb appeal of the 2010 Toyota Tundra.  Furthermore, please view the photo below--as you'll see from the photo, the Toyota Tundra has been embraced by American culture:

This photo says it all my friends.  The 2010 Toyota Tundra is an American Beauty, and she is here to stay.  Just ask the men and women of the Franklin County Field Days using these monsters in the Truck pulls, pulling in first place trophies and record times--they'll tell you these beasts are as American as apple pie.  Add in the main manufacturing plant being in Texas, and you're talking All-American football-style patriotic aptitude for the red, white, and blue.

The #10 Most American Vehicle
The Swagger Wagon, a.k.a. The 2011 Toyota Sienna

Last, but certainly not least, is the number ten spot on CNN's "Most American" Car list.  This vehicle has been gaining rapid momentum over its career, but has recently blown up to viral video status with the rapping parental duo in the Swagger Wagon Videos on You Tube.  Coming in at number ten, the Toyota Sienna is no longer a run-of-the-mill minivan.  This vehicle has transcended that tough to break boundary of "uncool soccer mom" into "Wow, is that a Matrix or a van?"  The answer to that is simple: it is a minivan, but it's sporty and stylish, and we at Toyota are proud to have it on the Most American List.  Check out the recent Sienna at Handy Toyota in St. Albans, VT below:

As said, you can clearly see why the Swagger Wagon (the 2011 Toyota Sienna, SE in this case) is such a popular vehicle.  Perhaps from these photos one couldn't tell, but the photographer honestly second guessed himself and thought he was viewing a Toyota Matrix.  The sporty physique of these family minivans turned elegant machines have made the Toyota Sienna not only loved by America, but enjoyed by car lovers of every end of the automotive spectrum.
