Handy Toyota's Official Blog

I hate to do this to you folks because it seems like a perpetual Groundhog's Day whenever I post something of this nature, but bearing a (bull?) logo on my shirt, I have to take pride in the inconceivable denial to fall from grace.  Just a year after a full fledged and customer-scaring Toyota issued recall for safety concerns (which as you know by now were later discredited; thanks ABC), Toyota's brand confidence…

As you very well know, the Prius IV (4th generation) is now on sale and doing as well as ever, and the new Prius v, a Prius hybrid with 58% more cargo room and still up to 44 mpg, has sold nicely and been received by owners of the vehicle with a fervent love.  And soon the Prius c, the world's first hybrid subcompact car, will be released along side the Prius Plug-in.  Knowing all of this, we at Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT, Vermont's first Toyota dealership and America's first Cow Powered green dealer are inclined to think Toyota's newly launched Rethink the Way You Drive campaign is a teaser for the family of Prii... but is it?

Take a look at the Rethink the Way You Drive video and read some details we've dug up and let us know in the comments section of today's blog.  Click the Read More button to sound off and view the video.

With the release of the 2012 Prius IV (the 4th generation Prius hybrid), the 58% larger Prius v, and the pricing release of the subcompact Prius c, does it really surprise you that the Prius Plug-in - basically a current edition Prius hybrid with the added benefit of better technology and up to 15 miles of electric, emissions free driving on a single 1.5 hour charge (as well as an estimated $4 bump to the electricity bill at two charges per day) - that Forbes Magazine just released the Most Anticipated Cars of 2012 with the Prius PHV topping the list?

Find out a few more and in depth reasons why the 2012 Prius Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is sure to not only impress but become the new standard in the electric vehicle / EV-world in today's blog.  Read More button to find out more or subscribe today to get email notices when we post new blogs.

Will the 2012 Prius Plug-in make waves in the same regard as the original Prius?  If pre-orders and fan hype are any indication, Toyota Motors USA's Bob Carter, group vice president of sales, says absolutely.  And with a current EPA estimated 95 miles per gallon combined (gasoline plus a fully charged battery) and a final fuel economy score coming in weeks, Prius Plug-in fanfare is at an all time high.

Better yet, the Toyota Prius Plug-in isn't the only vehicle Toyota is unleashing with the hopes of dominating the market for another decade:  the 2012 Prius IV, e.g. the 4th generation Prius hybrid, just released to stellar reviews, the 2012 Prius v is seeing positive acceptance from critics and owners alike, and the compact Prius c is getting city-dwellers and fans of 55+ mpg lovers something to ponder.

Toyota and BMW form an eco-friendly alliance

Headlining the news in the world of hybrid cars, the Prius, diesel engines and - believe it or not - Bavarian luxury vehicles, Toyota Motors and BMW have formed an alliance for the ages in the hopes of expanding upon each company's dominance in the eco-friendly fight against gas guzzlers and high gasoline prices alike.

On the heels of President Obama's recently proposed law that calls for fleetwide fuel economy ratings of no less than 54.5 in the next few years, BMW hopes to use Toyota's excellent Hybrid Synergy Drive technologies - the lithium-ion batteries that have propelled the Prius hybrid to reach a four-car family and over 3 million global sales, predominantly - to accomodate the new law while Toyota aims to expand their European market share with BMW's fascinating 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter diesel engines.

2012 Prius earns "Best Green Car to Buy" award

For nearly a decade and a half the phrase "eco-friendly" has been synonymous with that of Prius.  By the middle point of this decade, Toyota will have a four-car Prius family, dubbed by the Facebook fans of the world Prii.  So it should come as little shock that the 2012 Toyota Prius has been dubbed the Best Green Car to Buy by GreenCarReports.com.

"The Prius is more than just one car this year," points…

Toyota's next Prius aims for three goals

After months of speculation, the Prii, meaning a four-car family of Prius hybrid vehicles, are finally getting let out of the gates.  A couple of weeks ago we broke the news in our blog "The Prius v arrives to Handy Toyota that we had finally received our first Prius v, the first new member of the Prius family that gets up to 44 mpg in the city while increasing the cabin area by 58%, and...

Test drive: the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in

For at least 12 months, the Handy Toyota blog you know and love so much has been throwing new versions of the Prius, dubbed the Prii family, down your throat.  The Prius 5, the Prius v, the Prius c, and of course the Prius Plug-in are generally about 10% of what our staff, by which I mean...

When Toyota promotes a new vehicle, especially one based on and considered an upgrade/update from the currently record-setting Toyota Prius, people take note.  And today I'm happy to announce a certain group of people with a lot of pull have done just that.

Decisive Magazine, a publication that gives out the annual Urban Wheel Award and works closely with the North American International Auto Show, recently dubbed the 2012 Prius Plug-in the 2012...

Picking up the pieces left by Irene

Last Friday a cleanup crew and I had the dubious task of cleaning up my fallen tree, compliments of Tropical Storm Irene.  With my assistance we were able to get the mess cleaned up in four hours.  The only lasting damage, aside from the tree, was a sprained wrist, however I could have been injured worse, so all things considered...  While in the process of cleaning up the governor flew by in his helicopter, which…
