Toyota Aims Big With Prius Plug-in

Most of you are aware by now of the fact that Toyota is soon to release its newest version of the world famous Prius, the Prius Plug-in.  Some of you may have even used the Priority Registration form located on Handy Toyota and Toyota Motors USA's website (click here to view that form), thereby locking in the option to purchase one of these 13-mile gas-free wonders in late 2011 when they're released.  If so, don't get on the "feeling exclusive" bandwagon just yet - due to this Priority Registration and extrapolations therefrom Toyota has estimated, at a conservative…

The Best Cars for the Worst Gas Prices

The latest rise in gasoline costs has once again impacted both the driving habits of motorists as well as their vehicle purchase decisions, so it's not surprising that small Toyota cars and SUVs are dominating the sales charts. As new car-buyers gravitate toward more fuel efficient Toyota cars and SUVs, however, the problem is that inventory drops.  When coupled with the devastation in Japan that is still being felt vehicle-wise in the States (though of course to a lesser extent at this point), supply and demand becomes an issue.

Luckily for you, Handy Toyota took precautions.  When you think…

The Derby Is Coming to an End

The future is definitely looking brighter for production of most of the sought after Toyota models.  We should be seeing allocations pick up and arrival times around July.

The Preakness is at hand.  This Saturday should see the Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom dominate a lackluster field, or at least it's certainly the logical choice to win the Derby.

Gas prices appear to have leveled off and are predicted to be down around $3.85 by Memorial Day.  American drivers have reduced consumption by 129 million barrels a month.  A glut of oil is beginning to form.  Hopefully this…

End of the Derby Roundup

The Kentucky Derby has come and gone and I came out ahead a whole nine bucks.  I guess I have no complaints as my key selections lost and my break even bet won so the plan worked out okay.

The management team here at Handy Toyota continues to work diligently at keeping our Toyota inventory balanced.  A good portion of that will be 2010 Toyota vehicles at some point but it will represent a good deal for the buyer.  The supply of 2011 Toyota's is rapidly diminishing, so if that is your desire act now or consider a wait…

Car-sharing Company Zipcar Gets Their First Prius PHV

Happy Friday, Handy fans, and Happy April Fool's Day at that!  Hopefully your pranks have gone smoothly and hilariously, or conversely I pray that nobody's been upset by a prank gone too far.  I'm on the lookout all day for April foolery, but I'm not sure they'll get me; I have a full, CIA-level surveillance team on hand ready to spring into action with tasers, pepper spray, K9 units, and other booby traps (like, in honor of the return of new Looney Toons a pile of Roadrunner food with a gigantic rock balancing perilously above…

NADA 2011

Have you ever been to San Francisco?

My wife Karen and I recently returned from San Francisco where we attended the annual National Automobile Dealers Association Convention.  The purpose of this convention is to create a venue for the auto dealers to have the opportunity to meet all the different companies and their representatives that support our industry and to view all the latest technology and hardware that is available to support the needs of our customers.  Anything and everything that you can imagine that supports our industry is there.  In light of the fact that we are in the…

Happy New Year From the Blogmeister

Another holiday season has come and gone, New York City has survived a blizzard, 2011 is just days away, and the Super Bowl is five weeks from being played.  I decree that spring is breaking out all over!  With that said, we at Handy Toyota are grateful for the excellent 2010 calendar year that will soon be completed and look forward to an excellent 2011 which will be full of challenges and opportunities.

One such opportunity (or challenge, depending on how you look at it), though not quite the landmark that tearing down Yankee Stadium will be, involves the moving…

Coming Home

It feels good to be back at Handy's now that I've just finished up my first semester at Clarkson University.  For me the pleasure of returning was two-fold:  not only did I have a heavy workload for my major (mechanical engineering) and a well deserved respite from it, but I also decided to tackle Army ROTC on top of that.  So after four months of nothing but mathematics and early morning Physical Training (PT) sessions, I finally made it back to St. Albans and to Handy's... thankfully in one piece!

As challenging as this first semester was…

New Tech, New Ideas

I was given an excellent treat the other day:  a brand new iPhone 4.  I had been blogging recently about the iPad that General Manager Dan Luneau wanted me to learn, and learn I did.  It turns out with the surprise around the corner, I basically groomed myself towards the new smartphone with its umpteen million possibilities--all of which fit snuggly and quietly in your pocket.

I also described the Bluetooth keyboard that I purchased for our General Manager to make his iPad a bit more usable for day to day routines.  The thought dawned on me last night whilst…

New Website Material

Happy Friday, friends!  I assume everyone's week went well, as the weather was ideal for the end of October.  Actually to be fair, the weather was far above average.  I don't remember in my life hitting 70 degrees or more this late in October, and usually if it hasn't snowed since the 31st something is awry.  Although having just typed that blasphemous statement, I'm almost certain I'll wake up to three feet tomorrow morning; let's hope the karma of those two statements cancel each other out, at least for another few days.

I'd…
