GM Joins the Not-So-Exclusive Club of Major Companies Joining the Bankruptcy Gang

The CEO and Chairman of General Motors, Ed Whitacre, resigned yesterday.  Mr. Whitacre took over these positions from Rick Wagoner during the GM bankruptcy.  Rumor has it that he was being pressured to either leave or commit to a long-term contract because GM is about to file for an IPO in hopes of raising enough "private" money to pay off Uncle Sam and get him out of the car business.
