Truth be told, the Avalon isn't in the best of shape. It's a nice full sized sedan, that much is certain, featuring a 3.5L V6 engine, front or all-wheel drive powertrains, and all the creature comforts a driver could ask for including plush leather, power seats; windows; locks; and more, a tap-shift transmission, and so on. But it's always been viewed as what it was originally: a high level Camry, even at one time bearing the name Toyota Camry Avalon.
As nice a sedan as the Avalon may be, it turns out all the bells and whistles in the world don't amount to much if people don't see a model as different from another. Why buy an Avalon when for a little less you can get a fully loaded and redesigned Camry XLE for example? In 2013 Toyota and the Avalon have given you more reason than ever.
Featuring a completely revamped design as shown above that seems inspired by both the iconic Jaguar line as well as the Lexus brand, the new 2013 Toyota Avalon, due in our store in late 2012, is ready to turn heads... and likely turn a few more sales than in 2011.
On the outside, the rather large rear end has been likened to a hatchback by many circles, but this is all sedan. Heading to the front, the larger front bumper gives it the Camry-family look while a new grille gives the Avalon a distinctive visage of its own. Coming around the sides of the car, gigantic 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on all Avalon's in 2013 with an optional 18-inch upgrade as well as high-intensity-discharge headlamps.
When New York Auto Show visitors viewed the interior, the new look was by all accounts shocking: mixing a flare for classic and futuristic elegance, Toyota has seemingly hit the sweet spot, utilizing a standard 6.1-inch touchscreen (or optional 7-inch upgrade with navigation), capacitive virtual buttons; normal buttons; and "knobs" for controlling the various center console functions, and both heated and cooled front seats made for a welcoming appeal. Other optional features include rear heated seats and three zone climate control with more equipment to be unveiled as the late 2012 release date approaches.
As the photos indicate, 2013 is not just a new year for the Avalon but a new life. Hoping to capture a much larger portion of the full size sedan segment than years past while combining a new design scheme seems to be a winning option, but time will tell when the 2013 Toyota Avalon arrives to Handy Toyota sometime in this calendar year. Thanks for the comment, and we're glad you like the looks of the newly redesigned 2013 Toyota Avalon. As mentioned in this blog we [were] pretty excited for it too - being the new head of Toyota's brainchild alone is enough to generate some interest, but now that it's hit our lot having checked out the lines of the vehicle, the feel of its ride, and so on we can tell you your comment is correct and it will surely turn some heads!
